Penn Prof.: Guns Protect Sense of Manhood/Merely Phallic Symbolism
Here is a fresh link to The Baltimore Sun op-ed, since the Psychology Today link is rendering an Access Denied response:

The first paragraph was enough for me to know the rest was not worth reading:
Guns are many things to many people. They express anger. They threaten and intimidate. They silence speech. They limit freedom by instilling fear. They are symbols of independence and rebellion against authority. They can be murder weapons. They are useful for hunting. And once in a while, they also protect peopleIllegitimus non carborundum est

Re: Penn Prof.: Guns Protect Sense of Manhood/Merely Phallic Symbolism
Or, they just like what men have? You know, this might not be so farfetched an idea. My wife likes "long" guns, "straight" shooters you know, especially after they are "warmed up", always "on target" with no "messing around", the ones that "get the job done". Yep, she knows what she likes and is not afraid to say so.
Relationships between men and women can be difficult - but not impossible.

Looks like he pulled his article down or restricted it, guess that ignorant pompous piece of shit was getting more attention than he wanted.
Here is a screenshot of that asshole's brain fart masquerading as valid medical opinion.
