What Happens When The Left Is On The Receiving End Of Satire?
I noticed something interesting on one of the movie sites I frequent to get an idea about whether I care to see a given film or not, namely Rotten Tomatoes.
I always keep in mind the obvious left-leaning bias of the general mainstream media and most of the so-called professional critics and 'pundits', mind you, but usually you can get a good idea from the general consensus between pundits and "regular folk" reviewers.
Today I noticed something I've never seen before, as far as the disparity of opinion... and it stood out, to me anyway, as being such an overt sign of unashamed bias that I thought I'd post it here.
The movie I'm thinking of seeing is American Carol, a lampooning of Michael Moore and his ilk using a satirical approach along the lines of the plot of A Christmas Carol.
The thing that struck me is that virtually every "pro" critic has refused to review the movie on RT... 0%! And the so-called pundits give it an extremely low rating of 13%... yet the "general population" of critics put it at 71%, as of today.
I've never seen such a wide margin before, and it appears as good a sign as any as how the pretense of objective journalism isn't even garnering lip-service any longer.
I've also heard rumors that theatre personnel are resorting to all sorts of "guerrilla war' tactics in an attempt to upend the film, ranging from not displaying the posters or the film's name on the marquees, giving patrons tickets for other movies, which even though they get directed to the correct sub-theatre, the sales nevertheless go unreported and/or to the credit of other films, or listing the film as rated R instead of its actual PG-13.
"You rarely see a good movie rated so low by the pro critics—13% at this writing—or such a large discrepancy between them and the RT Community—the community is at 73%. None of the top critics has even reviewed An American Carol. The cause is obvious when you consider that they write for media outlets: media liberal bias. This is a wonderful measure of the extent of that bias.
It’s a better-than-average comedy with some good laughs and many good points (the best being that, if anti-war protestors had been successful at the time of the Civil War, slavery would not have ended then). But it skewers the hypocrisy and pretensions of liberals and is totally not PC. It makes fun of liberals like media people. Professional reviewers should be above this and, putting their personal feelings aside, be able to write good, honest reviews. But professionalism in journalism is dead.
If you like the barbs of the Rush Limbaughs and Ann Coulters, you’ll like this movie. If Obama sends a thrill up your leg, you won’t."

Re: What Happens When The Left Is On The Receiving End Of Satire?
I am actually looking forward to see American Carol....from the trailers looks like a decent "stupid" movie.
And I am not surprise at all that is getting bad reviews (if any at all) considering that the press/media is so blatantly biased towards the "commies" that is not even funny. Also I am not surprised about it being boicotted at the theathers......but at the same time doesn't seem like a big deal that Obama purchased virtual billboard on some EA games (namely Burnout Paradise, Madden 09 and NBA Live 09 for the Xbox360)....
Let's keep brainwashing people since they go to school and here's the results.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."
