I just saw a commercial for this on TV.

There is no way that this will not get virtually unanimous "yes" votes.

Lots of advertising on TV in the last couple of days. All PRO for the vote.

I was going to look up the commersial on Youtube, but there are dozens - and it's been pushed nationally for a while now apparently.

Nobody is going to vote against a rape victim.

Nobody cares about any of the "icky parts" - it's all about the feels.

I listened closely to the commercial this morning.

This woman is talking about her accused attacker, who had not yet been convicted.

There we go, stripping due process.

There needs to be a way to hold legislators responsible for passing law that destroys due process. I don't mean by voting. It needs to be challenged by trial with consequences for malfeasance. The lay person originating such proposals can be forgiven. Legislators should and do know better and make bad law anyway.

It's not uncommon for women to make fake rape accusations, and false sexual harassment allegations. I've met some of them. It happens a LOT.

I'm not aware of a corollary for men making false allegations, the closest phenomenon I know of is "stolen valor", where men falsely claim to have been war heroes.

It's the Biden/Warren examples. Joe Biden is a serial liar who claims to have been at the center of momentous events, in which he was the central figure. He lies to show how awesome he is.

Elizabeth Warren is a serial liar who claims to have been victimized by our racist patriarchal society, as an Indian whose mother was despised by white society, as a fired pregnant teacher, as a sexually harassed professor who was so attractive that a polio victim locked his office door and chased her around the room. She lies to show how victimized she is.

That's the pattern. It's not universal, but the trends are there. Liars like Jussy Smollett fall into the women's lies group, for whatever reason. Lies from Kamala Harris look more like men's lies, to the extent she wants to look like a tough prosecutor. But mostly, men lie upwards and women lie downwards.

We can't have a criminal justice system which presumes that the accused is guilty and that the accuser needs to be shielded from harsh questions. I opposed this in the "rape shield" laws where a man accused of rape is unable to challenge the accuser's testimony "I would never consent to sex on a first date" by bringing in the last 20 guys she dated and banged, and I oppose it in cases where the sole testimony against an accused pedophile is the testimony of a child, but the child is sheltered IN COURT from having the testimony vigorously challenged. The McMartin preschool case proved me right on that.

It's insane to place a higher value on temporary angst to an alleged victim, than to avoiding convicting the innocent. Whatever awkwardness the accuser feels due to the defense being able to confront them, it pales into nothing compared to the destruction of an innocent life when a man who's done nothing wrong is inserted into the world of our prison system.

All witnesses are equal, we coddle none of them or else we no longer have a legitimate criminal justice system, we just have punishment against disfavored groups.

Last week on the local news there was a piece about a community on edge because a "little girl" (how they worded it) was found on the road, at night, unconscious - not knowing how she got there.

She was found hours after a high school football bonfire.
They never came out and said "rape" initially, but the next day it was reported that she had been assaulted by a man - taken and sexually assaulted and then left in the road.
Horrified neighbors were interviewed by the media and the police asked for any witnesses who had been at the bonfire.
The little girl was 11 or 12 I think.

A few days later it was revealed that she made the whole thing up.

Yes, always believe the victim. Always.

The ACLU and the League of Women's Voters have just initiated a lawsuit against the Commonwealth of PA to remove the question from the ballot because it violates the PA Constitution and laws on amending it.

The lawsuit cites Article 11, Section 1 of the Pennsylvania Constitution, that states when more than one amendment is being considered, they need to be voted on separately. The plaintiffs argue Marsy’s Law makes sweeping changes, requiring voters to vote all or nothing.
