Default First Pistol ....What and When ?

I’m sure this has been posted before but what was your first pistol and when did you buy it ?

For me I turned 21 in 1991 got my LCTF in 92 and my first pistol was a S&W 411 I got in 1993 right before the Brady bill kicked in. I still have it it’s my nightstand gun .

Springfield Armory XD9 in 2008 (thanks Barack!). It was a lemon, and had to be replaced by Springfield after three trips for service/diagnosis, but it got me into shooting and being more knowledgeable about our freedoms.

    Stainless Taurus Pt92 9mm
    Around 2001 give it take.
It was actually a pretty good gun. I sold it because I wasn’t experienced enough to trust my own instinct and was swayed by the Taurus bashers.

In 1980 I bought a Colt 70 series 1911. I bought it from Gordon's Sporting Goods on West Chester Pike in Broomall just after I was discharged from active duty from the USN. Back then there was a waiting period and the Local Police were in charge of the background check. All very un Constitutional but they did it that way anyway. Asking the government to approve your right to own and buy a gun is still very un Constitutional but they still do it and people put up with it which is the most amazing thing to me.

In Naples Italy on a med cruise in 1965, I bought a .22 pistol with 4 bbls. and a rotating firing pin from some guy in the street. I have no idea who it was made by. It broke open to load each barrel. Cool gun, wish I kept it.

First pistol was a gift from my father at 17. Ruger single six with the convertible cylinders for .22lr/.22 mag. First one I bought was a 3"gp100 when I turned 21. Bought it as my first carry gun.

I still have both of them.

Sounds very similar to the late 1800s Sharp's Derringer. And lo and behold if you go to youtube you see a vid about an Iver Johnson "Pocket Ace 22 LR".

BTW my first pistol was acquired while overseas in South Korea. A Smith & Wesson Chiefs Special, which was later traded for a 6" barreled Highway Patrolman. Regrettably they had to stay in Korea in the care of another US service member since I couldn't possess them in my then home state of New York.
