    Well it;s NOT an antique with what I assume is a s/n that you grayed out and the roll marked "For Black Powder Only..."

    I would think there is other markings somewhere on the barrel or the action that might identify it. To me, it looks like a kit built gun, the inletting looks like it was done by machine and the cheek piece probably wouldn't have been on an antique piece and looked this good after a lot of years.

    Looks to be a CVA Hawken 50 cal flintlock. They were made through the 80's to mid 90's. Not worth a whole lot. Maybe $200 at most.

    Agree a Hawken reproduction. CVA possible, Dixie gun Works, Pedersoli and others made similar.

    Thompson Center 45 caliber hawken. Last made in 2012.

    so you said it was a reproduction. of what? what era was the original that they reproduced here? did they use the originals in the civil war?

    The original Hawken rifles were made in St. Louis for the western mountain men circa, 1810-1830. They were civilian guns, not military.

    As another person correctly said, the reproductions were very common in the 1980s-90s. Thompson Center was one of the better makers of these. If you are into black powder shooting there have a good reputation.
