BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A Georgia hunter was fatally shot after being mistaken for a deer by another person in his hunting party, police said.
Bobby Lane, 17, was in an area of heavy foliage on Saturday when he was thought to be an animal by another hunter, the Glynn County Police Department said in a press release.

Re: Teen Hunter Shot and Killed After Being Mistaken for a Deer in Georgia
Take your pick:
- Can't tell the difference between a human and a deer.
- Can't see what he is shooting at, but shoots anyway.
- Does not know he should positively identify a target before shooting at it.
- Knows but does not care that he should positively identify a target before shooting at it.
Which is worse? Does it matter? Are there any other options?
Talk about something that should be a mandatory lifetime ban on owning guns....I mean....damn.

But hunters go through training. We recently had a fudd on here spouting off about how people should be required to get training before they can buy a gun. Training can't fix stupid. This kid was killed with a fudd gun, not an "assault rifle" that last fudd was going on about.

Which is worse? Does it matter? Are there any other options? What difference does it make what he was shooting with? Would that change the fact that he was shooting at something he shouldn’t be shooting at, albeit it with an arrow rather than a bullet?

No charges filed, but could face an illegal weapons charge? How about negligent homicide? Illegally hunting with a rifle, and shot at a sound.Rules are written in the stone,
