Re: Hunting with a Personal Locator Beacon
Better safe than sorry is what I always say. I venture out into the big woods, but never more than a mile or so from where the other guys from camp are. We all usually lay out our plans. Cell coverage is spotty. Two way radios are good line of sight. I usually carry some way to start a fire, a few protein bars, water, a whistle, topo map, compass, gps and a first aid kit complete with tourniquet. I hope I don't ever need to use any of the gear, but I have it.

It's a great idea, unexpected injuries happen and having a locator beacon may make the difference in the outcome of your recovery.

Re: Hunting with a Personal Locator Beacon
I have carried a SPOT for the past 8 - 10 years after falling and braking my leg at the cabin which, fortunately, fronts a busy road.
I can send two different 'canned' messages to multiple people, a 'private' continuous message till shut off AND the SOS button which gets help.
My wife is happier....
