Default Century arms WSAR 10 vs VSKA

I been in the market for an AK47 style rifle for some time and narrowed it down to the wasr10 or vska. These are both about $700-$750 and made/modified by century arms. Would you go with the new VSKA or century arms wasr10?

    Neither, go with a PSA

If you are going to be insistent on those two go with the WASR-10. Century does not build them, they import them. They build the VSKA, and only an idiot would trust them after the clusterfuck that has been every other century built AK.

I have a WASR that runs fine. It's an import, the VSKA has had lots of problems, so has any other rifle built by century here.

I'd skip the vska and anything from psa until the new gens are proven reliable. Rob Ski's 5k test is OK but one psa rifle barely eeking by the test isn't a full picture.
I'd suggest a lightly used Chinese mak90 or Hungarian amd63 true import for your price range or an arsenal or converted saiga for a little more.
The polish wbp rifles and pistols also seem legit. They do contract work for the real fb radom/((11)) plant. Their fox rifle comes in neutered import configuration (single stack mag cut, bayonet lug not profiled, shitty furniture) but can be made into full akm spec pretty easily.

They'll get more, they have the import deal with wbp. Last I saw them I think they were $650 + ship.

The WASR is a far better rifle built by a professional arsenal who has been making military and commercial AK's for a very long time. I have owned several over the years that are all good to go. I wouldn't buy anything that Century makes in house.

You can easily get 10K rounds plus out of a WASR without an issue which is what an AK should do, I highly doubt anyone but a paid spokesman for Century can say the same regarding their in house garbage. The PSA Gen 2 rifles seem good and now the gen 3 especially for the price but I personally would rather have a good a WASR over it. I won't get into other AK's since you didn't ask about them and are keeping your budget under them.

Moral of the story is don't buy anything century manufacturers in house. They also only offer a one year warranty and they claim it starts from the day they sold the rifle to the shop you purchased it from not when you purchased it from the shop which us bull shit. Another good thing about PSA is their lifetime warranty and their customer service and they are now offering CHF barrels and forged parts like the WASR.

Import. There are few US mass produced AK variants worth owning.

My local FFL is asking for $769 for the WASR 10. Is this a good deal?

I had bad luck with both a zastava n-pap and a century.

I finally just spent the $$$ and went with an arsenal. Wish I had done it to start with.

Yes that’s s good price locally. They are $695.00 from Atlantic plus shipping and transfer.

Make sure you inspect the rifle. It’s easy to do just google WASR inspection on AK operators union channel.

Pick out a good one and you will be happy. The only thing you may want to change is the American furniture down the line. It’s not as good as the surplus furniture which can be easily and affordably found.

Here is an inspection video for reference.

Jesus, I just spit out my root beer!

Looks like I'll never buy another AK47 at these prices.
