Default CZ Scorpion Carbine, is it worth it?

I’ve been going back and forth with a 9mm carbine for awhile. I’m looking for something I can use in steel matches next spring.

I don’t believe that any of the large orgs that run the matches allow braced pistols and I’m not interested in the SBR Route now.

The CZ Scorpion EVO interests me. I’ handled and shot one at the Central shoot the year before last and remember liking it. I see they are still running around $1K which is pretty high for a 9mm carbine. In the long run is this PCC really worth that kind of coin?

My Scorpion is probably my favorite firearm. It’s currently the pistol variant with an SBA3 brace, but I’m going to Form 1 it this week. Ammo is cheap, mags are cheap, plenty of aftermarket support, and it’s never had an issue. With my Osprey 45 hanging off the front, it’s quiet and almost recoilless.

I like my Extar EP9... Light, takes Glock 9mm mags....under $500 and very accurate...

Scorpion is a bit pricey and limited on type of mags to use..my opinion.

I'd go for the grand power stribog personally. I'm holding out for the delayed blowback A3 model. You can get there with the current gen if you're up for the challenge, but I'd rather have it from the factory.

There have been rumors of glock mag lowers around too. And ar triggers can be made to work with minor fitment.

The Ruger PC carbine is another low cost option. $450 or less, reliable, and Glock mags. Plus Ruger customer service. (CZ has good customer service as well, but the Extar or some of the other 'boutique' options I'm not sure).

Are you set on the EVO? If you haven’t tried the Ruger, and if you’re anywhere near the 19067 area, I’d be happy to let you do a test drive. I’m very happy with my PCC.

Also, I tried some of the Fiocchi 158g in it recently. Same point as my other ammo, yet mellower in report and recoil. Unsuppressed in my case.

I have a 9mm AR and just recently picked up a Scorpion. They are both super fun at the range but the only reason i can justify the Scorpion is because I traded for it. I think it is expensive for what it is and even more so if you add things to it. But like I said, super fun.

I have the scorpion pistol with the sb side folding brace. i can honestly say it is the most fun i have had shooting in a long time. very easy to go through 500 rnds of 9mm. and it is very accurate.

you are correct in that you cannot shoulder a "pistol" in competitions. I am currently using a Ruger PC Carbine and love it. Another route is Palmetto State Armory has some ready to go AR-9's for around $600. Higher-end stuff would be Lead Star, CK Arms, JP Arms, Sig MPX.. you get it.
