it is apparently ok for kids and LEO to be shot up with $200 hi points but not $400 ar's.
i wonder what people will say after the next vehicle attack or fertilizer bombing.

To my understanding, there is no law, and it does commonly happen..
Here is the problem. A background check isn't going to stop someone.

A perfectly law abiding person is going to pass a background check. There are plenty of cases where a perfectly law abiding person is the person who decided to go all apeshit and decided to shoot up some place. So this doesn't solve anything. At most, all it does is drive up costs and inconvenience for the overwhelming majority of people who are "legit" buyers. The people who are intent on being assholes are still going to be assholes.

Maybe the were going to go down to the office and shoot that place up and kill their boss and the woman they were sleeping with and that guy they don't like - and one or two people as collateral damage - so 5 people. But they couldn't get their gun because it was going to cost too much, or too much hassle or whatever. So, thanks a lot! But they're still frustrated. They still have all this rage and it builds up. And they'e sitting at this red light thinking about it. And steaming about it. And they see some young lovers crossing the street. And they see a crowd of people. With some people holding hands. And they say "fuck it" and slam the accelerator and aim the car into the crowd. Full of women, children, old people, dogs, and some weird dude holding a goldfish in a bowl. News reports say he killed ten people, put four more in critical condition. One kid had his leg amputated. One woman is paralyzed. The goldfish didn't make it. The weird dude will never be the same again.

    Thanks. Thanks a lot.

C'mon everybody, Corey Booger's ideas are certain to solve the problems of mentally ill people doing terrible things with guns and hoodlums using illegally obtained guns to kill and maim others. Let's give peace a chance. Think of the children and the kitties and the bunnies. Sharticus is such a genius that we should all just let him solve all of our problems and then we can all live in utopia.

I even have a campaign slogan for him. . . er, zhim.

Could the Lefts fear of guns be based on not understanding the context of the "use" of firearms? Bear with me on this: historically we used firearms as a tool (protecting from wild animals, Indian attacks and hunting), whereas today they are not used as the original tool 100% of the time. Population density also made using a firearm no big deal as the sound/range wasn't the concern we have today.

What we once needed as a tool 100% of the time, is now only needed for defense from criminals and as a threat to government oppression (there are some who do us firearms for hunting and protecting from wild animals, but the ratio is smaller now). This shift in tool use has those who do not understand the utility of firearms scared.

It's like saying our smartphones are a threat to their rotary phones (landline). They don't understand the utility of a smartphone, and want it banned because they perceive it to be a threat to their landlines. They don't "get it" that the AR15 family of firearms (and others) are the most popular firearms for sporting and defensive use. Like when the first cars came along, they said the cars were more dangerous then horse-drawn buggies. Then tractors replaced horse-drawn plows and they argued over that also.

Like Fudds, they can't, won't, or just never were learned, that firearms now are a newer tool version of muskets, and that the utility remains the same, just the ratio has changed on "how" it is used. This misplaced "fear" of the tool makes them blame the tool and not the person using the tool. This "fear", if applied to other items would be silly if we looked at it another way: "Computer electronics in cars should be banned as it causes the cars to crash because it distracts the drivers from operating the vehicle properly." Reality is, we allow ourselves to become distracted, and thus wreck vehicles.

As many of us already know, "fear" of firearms (emotions) is the main tool used by those who want control over firearms ownership. If we remove fear, and use logic, we will find there is no argument for new gun laws. The laws already in place are sufficient for our society right now.

I'm elitist too. I don't see why anyone needs to shoot at animals when you can get meat in a grocery store. All these "hunters" are mentally ill. We must stop hunting!!! Round up the hunting rifles! No one needs guns to hunt!

I agree, anyone that can afford a $2000 rifle for hunting has no need to hunt, they can just buy their meat at the store. There's no reason for them to be doing it other than fulfill their bloodlust of killing an innocent animal.

closer and closer we let the government and libs creep us toward socialism, communism or fascism. the more we will see that original use return. because the only food available will be what can be hunted as everything is either run out of business or outright banned (except for the elites, they get their imported beef, caviar, wines and cheeses) not only that but the original intent behind an armed citizenry will come to focus clear as day.
