Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
If you need a license to drive a car, you should need a license to buy and possess a gun,” said U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, a Presidential candidate, and the bill’s author.

Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
My BIL who is LE had to deal with him for a few day's for a reason I cannot remember. He said that if Booker somehow get's the nomination he would vote for Satan himself before he gave this guy his vote. My brother in law isn't political at all and most likely doesn't even vote but he said having to deal directly with this guy for a few day's on and off made him realize what a complete POS he really is. Under his leadership Newark became worse off and has yet to bounce back since he left.

Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
we can expand into juvenile records which won't help most areas where even the hardened criminals are pled down and only get probation for repeat illegal weapon posession or we can eliminate the background checks that have only been around for 21 years, go back to what worked for the 200 years prior (or thousand years [+/- a hundred] if we want to get back to the creation of the firearm)

Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
One of the worst shootings in US history was done without "assault weapons", here's the list:
Remington 700 ADL (6mm)
Universal M1 carbine
Remington Model 141 (.35-caliber)
Sears model 60 Semi-automatic shotgun (12 gauge)
S&W Model 19 (.357 Magnum)
Luger P08 (9mm)
Galesi-Brescia (.25 ACP)
Knife
Killed 17 people.
Good thing we're only focusing on those ultra deadly weapons of war, and not actually focusing on the real issues. Federal licensing and training isn't going to solve the problem. It's only meant to throw up obstacles, it's really just a form of firearm elitism. Only those that have the money will be able to own firearms. All those people that don't have the hundreds if not thousands to spend on the license and training can just go fuck themselves.Rules are written in the stone,

Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
One of the earliest school shootings was done with a Ruger 10/22. Not exactly an assault rifle, 2 killed, 9 injured. A clear case where the parent had the responsibility to know their kid was a nut job and failed miserably.

Re: NEW BILL WOULD REQUIRE GUN OWNERS TO GET 5 YEAR FEDERAL LICENSE
Another mass shooting done years ago with the following:
Browning HP (9mm)
Uzi carbine (9mm)
Winchester 1200 pump-action shotgun (12 gauge)
That is a clear case of the failure of the mental health system, the guy called for help, was assured someone would contact him. They took down his name wrong, and then tagged the call as a non-crisis, which meant no return call for 48 hours. Within that time frame he went shooting.
Something that licensing and training wouldn't have solved. In the case of Huberty, he already possessed the weapons before he went on his spree. He could have been licensed, he could have had training, but in the immortal words of Bob Geldof, the silicone chip inside his head got switched to overload. He sought help, and the help he sought failed him, his family and the victims. Of course, today, we've gone to the full other side of the spectrum, if he were to make that call today, he would be immediately red flagged and he'd be hauled off to the psych ward. There has to be a balance between the two extremes.Rules are written in the stone,
