Shitsburg..... the fiefdom of Mayor Potato, Mike Bloomberg's proxy and pet politician.

Mayor Potato probably asked them to "step up for gun safety".

You either have a right or you do not.
If you loose your right because of a knuckle head....

You never had a right in the 1st place ..... you had a privilege.

The "not preferring" ... or "banning" open carry is a stone throw away from banning or not "preferring" any carry.

On personal property you have a right .... as I have a right to enter or not.

.......... and I rarely open carry .....very rarely.
Doesn't mean I like a fella who thinks one should not.
Because that too , is my right.

My local Giant Eagle, franchise-owned, has had a No Guns sign at its entrances for years. So, I never open carry there.
Given the amount of gas I use (my Subarus don't drink that much and I'm single), I don't save enough to offset how much more Giant Eagle costs for groceries. Costco or Sam's Club is a better way for me to save money on gas. Aldi and Kuhns are my usual grocery store stops.

Though I do prefer GetGo over Sheetz.

Giant Eagle is a Jewish owned business, so you know how they feel about defense against a government that would round you up, gas you, and throw your corpse in a ditch...

Or at least you'd THINK they would be against that, but...

We have Price Rite and ALDI up here in Erie. And Giant Eagle. Prices at Giant Eagle are anywhere from 20 to 50% higher on most items, even store brands. I just use the pharmacy at Giant Eagle. Rarely buy groceries there. No way does the fuel perks even come close to make up for the higher prices.

As long as we tolerate it. Same way that every other "minority" got their rights. We push back against bigots and control freaks who want to run everyone's lives.

I think it's the politics of the owners, not their religion.

Sure, but they seem to be the minority - outnumbered by far.
At least that's what I see.

Here's my math on all of it...

Let's assume a gas price of $3/gallon. That means it takes 30 fuel perks (at 10 cents each) to get $0/gallon. At $50 worth of groceries per fuel perk, that means you need $50*30 = $1500 worth of groceries to have your gas bill be free. When you use your fuel perks, you can get at most 30 gallons, or 30*$3 = $90. That means you get $90 worth of gas for free every $1500 you spend on groceries, which works out to $90/1500 = 6%.

That means that, if you can get groceries elsewhere for more than 6% cheaper than Giant Eagle, you save money even considering the loss of fuel perks. And really, it's a little bit less than 6%, since you can still get 3 cents off per gallon without spending a penny at Giant Eagle.

All of the supermarkets around here that aren't Giant Eagle (except for Whole Foods), are cheaper by a lot more than 6%. The one thing that comes to mind is steak (I'm a NY Strip guy). Giant Eagle had these sad, thin looking things for $14/pound. Aldi had thicker looking steaks with better marbling for less than $10/pound.
