Default Help identifying this 1911 holster.

This holster looks similar to the Yaqui Slide types but looks molded to the firearm and does not have retention screws.

Who makes a holster like this? I know its also possible the one shown was a custom job.

The screen grab is from the film No Country for Old Men.

In other shots it shown to be open top. But it might be a Model 105 Minimalist Belt Slide.

That's what I was thinking too. I used to have one for a Taurus I had. Comfortable enough, but I didn't like the retention string on it.

Was the retention good enough without the string?

Wasn't bad, but the string is elastic and got in the way. I was going to cut it off, but I ended up selling the gun and threw the holster in with the deal. I'd say if you're not doing back flips with it on, it would be fine if you cut it off.

I have those for several of my guns (Bianchi 105) and if I don't want to use the retention strap I just tuck it between the holster and my belt. Holds the guns plenty securely and if you're doing something strenuous you can use the strap.
