There are discount cabelas gift cards available. I could direct you to 15% off... Comes in handy when they have a sale.

All retailers mark-up their inventory, so buying anything “on sale” at any store you’re basically paying the regular list price. There’s no “price gouging” though, because Cabela’s doesn’t have the firearms market cornered. Nevertheless, brick and mortar stores will all be gone at some point anyway.

Cabelas has a chamois button down field shirt that is tough as iron. My first construction job about 17 years ago, my boss (and family friend) bought me two and I still have them after many half-year/cold weather wear cycles. . Aside from some staining, they're as good as new. I don't know for a fact they still make them but hot damn are they some good shirts.

Does it still take hours to complete a firearm purchase there?

I like the convenience the most. I think there are 2 locations in the entire state - easy for everyone to get to!

I was excited when "Pittsburgh" was getting one - until it was built. Nowhere near Pittsburgh.

No interest in a doing a day trip to buy expensive outdoor gear. I've never been there.

I've bought a few guns at Cabelas over the years, but it's pretty rare. Two that come to mind. First was one of their Savage 12FV rifles in .308. $350 out the door.

My wife also got a good deal on a "used" Ruger No 1 at Cabelas some years ago. The guns were marked as used, but the salesman told us that they were actually rifles that had never been fired. They had a whole rack of them in various calibers, not a mark on any of them, original box and everything. Apparently they bought a lot of them from a distributor that was going out of business, and because of that they had to be sold as used? They were running a sale that day, 15% off any used guns, so we walked out with it for $800.

I've actually sold a good number of guns at Cabelas. The prices they pay out for used guns is actually pretty good for a store.

Cabelas has been assimilated into the Bass Pro Borg and all the good tough clothes they had are long gone and other Cabelas items, all gone.

In one store I go to all the ammo and gun stuff has been shoved together in favor of floor space for cheap ass toys, junk and pink camo.

Usually Cabelas will have at least some 9mm on sale and combined with a discount gift card, you can sometimes find a deal in the store. Same with used guns, some will be priced very attractively and some not.

    That's why I wouldn't buy a firearm there again.
