Re: Is your rifle ammo stockpile one load or a mix?
5.56 all M855
300 BLK is a mix because I'm still learning about it, but my nightstand rifle has the Hornady 190gr sub-x.
My 9mm SBRs is all 147gr HSTLife has a melody. Not great, not terrible.

Case lot for consistency. Found a case of the old Winchester Silver Tips the ones with aluminum tip in LGS bought them. 5.56 I buy when I see a good sale on rifle and pistol ammo. Some of my other rifles I hand load for to get the most FPS from.

On a similar vein I've always suggested, even if you're not a loader, to store a simple hand loading tool, pound of powder, brick of primers, bullets, extra cases in your chosen caliber if needed.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Re: Is your rifle ammo stockpile one load or a mix?
Mostly I shoot M855 that I always buy in bulk. Ether 500, 1000, or sometimes the 420 round packs on stripper clips with ammo can for my "emergency stockpile" that I don't touch. I also have a couple of mags of Hornady Critical Defense 73gr for home defense. Whiten 25 yards the POI shift is negligible between the M855 and the Hornady 73gr for defensive purposes.
However I recently joined an indoor range and took a carbine class there. Problem was no steel core allowed. Quickly I got some Federal 55gr at Walmart (before all the recent bullshit). This range was also whiten 25 yards so the POI shift was not worth worrying about.
I'm on the lookout though for something similar to M855 but without a steel core bullet.
Anything outside of 25 yards, I'm shooting outside, and I can use M855.Last edited by QuackXP; September 12th, 2019 at 10:38 AM.

Re: Is your rifle ammo stockpile one load or a mix?
95% of my rifle stock is all Wolf Gold so anything M193 will be close enough for my liking. That's pretty much my go-to rifle round although I'm hoping my soon-to-be-going-together SBR likes something along the lines of Fusion 62gr because I know at least 1 rifle I have likes that, too. It won't be a primary stock but a handful of mags with in would be peace of mind. And I have a handful of BH 77gr and a few rounds of Federal FC262 that are 100% lights out in my White Oak 18".

Stockpile is a loaded word. Red meat to democrat socialist. I wouldn't uss the term. Especially I wouldn't use it in a thread title in a searchable portion of the forum. Haven't you noticed the intensity of the socialists hungry for our bill of rights?

I only have 2 things I don't mix. My .35Rem is tack driver on with Win .35rem. Hornaday is huge POI and meh impact.
My match service rifles -75gr PPU match or MK262 Mod1. Lot does not matter.Owner Trigger Time LLc 01 FFL/NFA Saylorsburg, PA. Sales/Service/Transfers/Training
