So, How many guns are there?

I received the Nov/Dec issue of American Handgunner recently and in the back they list randomly chosen facts in their "Add it up" feature. This time around they state that there were 10,665,318 guns produced in 2018. They go on to state that there were 38,575,454 handguns produced between 2008 and 2017.

Do we have any idea how many guns are actually in circulation in the US? I do what I can to keep the numbers up but holy crap, that's a lot of guns.

From what I understand, the majority of them are submerged in various bodies of water across the country. Probably only 10-15 left in circulation.

Guns are horrible and anyone who has one should meet the same fate at Vigo the Carpathian. He was poisoned, shot, stabbed, hanged, and drawn and quartered.

I have none. Was foolish for ever having any. But I fixed that. I just enjoy them vicariously by reading about them, being on web sites, and watching anti-gun actors do all their shootemups on TV.
