seems to be perfectly legal and acceptable, provided you don't run into traffic.(in sarcasm)

I know exactly how it feels to lose one's firearm rights. I'm currently doing my 302 expungement at only 17 years old (I'm 17 now, the 302 happened when I was 14). I can only imagine how this man feels to be losing his firearm rights for life over something that (probably) wouldn't happen in another state and even though he is not likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety. Pardons aren't granted in NJ as often or as easily as they are in PA and certainly not for weapons offenses unless you're really lucky. This is why we need the Federal Relief from Disabilities program 18 USC 925 (c) to be re-opened, even if they make you pay for your own relief determination. Unfortunately, with all the mass shootings, I don't think "rearming felons and the mentally ill" sounds appetizing to Congress.

If and when I have my firearm rights restored I'm going to be extra careful when I cross into New Jersey (and I will probably be going there a lot since my parents have a house there). I'll make absolutely sure I have my FPID card with me and make sure I don't bring any prohibited firearms or high-cap magazines. While I do not like assault weapons bans or high-cap magazine bans, from someone in my position (banned for life because of a 302 at age 14) I should be grateful to eventually be allowed to own anything. I will still advocate against such bans whenever they're being pushed through the legislature.

The possibility that any American can be facing years in prison for what was in this guy's truck, that's what's wrong.

That's an ignorant response. Fight against the law, not the victim. Right or wrong.

Maybe but right now he may still be sitting in prison. I would worry about my guns second.
