SIG is now an American company run by an Israeli CEO, and is no longer the German-Swiss company that built the reputation of of the namesake. All of the SIG plants in Germany closed down some years ago after Ron Cohen (the CEO) was caught violating German export weapons laws.

Just had to google it (because honestly I didn't know fiat could buy anything but remembered something about a german company doing something with chrysler) and this appears to be what I was thinking of:

I'm happy with my Walther PPQ. More accurate and better than a Glock.
I have the VP9 on my want list, just have not got around to it yet.
