Btw.... if it does not have to be used ftf..... keep an eye on gundeals.com. You can periodically find deals on Rugers and Smith and Wessons for $460 or so shipped. There are also a lot of other ar’s that may not be name brands in the $300-400 range.

I can't even imagine black guns going back to CLINTON ERA prices. Look at all the one line auctions. There is no end to AR style rifles and stripped serialized lowers, complete uppers and mountains of ammo to go with them. You will probably never get close to what you paid for it if you go to sell, so it is not an asset like a collectable rifle. You have to look at it as a frivolous buy.

I know the OP said used face to face, and that he did'nt want to build one ... BUT Palmetto State Armory regularly has deals on complete kits (minus the lower) If he wants to make one on the cheap they have one this weekend for $299 get that and an Anderson lower for $49 or less you've got a workable rifle for $350. I realize that resale value won't be super, but, for an entry rifle that works, prices have never been lower.

Some of you may be keeping track of all the rifles I post pictures of.
I only own 3 that have gone through an FFL - all stripped lowers.
(I've never bought a complete rifle)
It takes time, and willing sellers, but you can find them.
One of the perks of getting to know so many people via this forum.

I’ll also say the classifieds will be a better place to look. I’ve seen some steals here this past year. If the FTF desire is a must, Id say focus on getting the lower and just buy an upper from BCM, SOLGW or similar company.
