It provides them a list to compare to their other lists

They will use this data to coincide and cross reference with the "deleted" NICS data.

I'm already on the San Francisco terrorist list, 'showed up to rally in Pittsburgh' list, 'buys ammo by the case' list, 'stores diesel fuel' list, and the 'posts conservative memes too much' list, I may as well download the app and get on this list too

It would be a shame if tens of thousands MORE firearm owners went and downloaded the app. You don't have to have the scope to download the app. It might clog up the works for the FEDS...

You'd think if their concern was foreign owners of the scope they'd only be interested in the data of people who downloaded the app in other countries.

You cannot ship ANYTHING that is ''intended for use on any type of weapon'' outside CONUS without prior State Dept approval. I worked for BAE , a major defense contractor , we had ITARS training probably twice a year.

    No.10 x 1'' flathead wood screw = OK

The question is, who commits the ITAR violation? The person buying, or the person shipping? I'd think the person shipping has more responsibility to ensure they're in compliance than any random person across the planet.
