    Default Road Rage defense

I saw a Youtube video about a driver who was had the right to turn right on red but held up due to cars turning left from the opposite direction. So some nut behind her started honking at her, then once she started moving went around her and at the next red light got in front of her, stepped out of the car, approached her window, and started yelling obscenities at her. Most of the time, it's just idiots who are all talk, but that's my worst nightmare of some nut with a gun, especially with my wife and kids in the car. Once I see anybody get out of their car, my glock 19 is ready to go. I have my LTCF. I'm not taking any chances. If they take 3 steps towards me, I'm out of my car and drawing on them and calling police.

If I'm in fear of my life (which I am), would I be breaking the law? What is the law there?

Stay in your car. Call the police. If you get out, it's questionable whether or not castle doctrine applies. If you stay in, there's no question that castle doctrine applies because PA's castle doctrine extends to your vehicle.

Trust me, I've been through the ringer on this. But I'm also not a lawyer.

Also, learn to leave enough distance for escape and evade. When you can simply drive away, it makes life much easier.

You are way out of the bounds of lawful self defense if you do as you describe.
You may defend yourself and your family with deadly force only under threat of imminent serious bodily harm or death.
Someone being an asshole and yelling at you is not enough to justify deadly force.
I strongly suggest you become familiar with the law without delay.

You would certainly be arrested for getting out of your car and drawing down on someone for merely walking towards your car. Probably convicted of one of more crimes, too. If you pulled the trigger, expect your family to get along without you for the next few decades.

For some reason, when the OP described his plans, I pictured Marshal Matt Dillon at high noon, standing upright and proud, clearing leather and downing the bad guy.

Unless you're a US Marshal and it's the 19th century, don't do that.

OP did say "but that's my worst nightmare of some nut with a gun".

I think his question is what response should he use if a guy with a gun approaches his car.
