Talk to me about my Winchester model 64
Hey guys, I just inherited this Winchester model 64 in .30-30 from my father. It was his first rifle that he ever purchased, back in 1970 or so.
I have a few questions.
Approximately what year was this manufactured in?
How do I remove the front sling stud so that I can install a modern UMK stud to properly utilize the pictured sling? Is it just threaded? Or should I leave it?
This may seem like heresy, but are there any magazine extensions? Probably won't, but I'm curious.
Thanks for the help guys!PUT AN ACOG ON IT!

Made between 1943 and 1948.
Leave the front sling stud as it is, and find QD swivels to fit.
You could get a Model 94 rifle mag tube (24"), but anchoring the front will require a figure eight barrel band and filing a notch in the underside of the barrel to clear the band screw so that the band won't slip around, taking several hundred $$$ off it's value.
My sympathy at the loss of your father, but honor his memory by keeping the 64 as-is.
