Any recommendations on an American made 1911 under $600?

Looking for something akin to a GI model. Parkerized or whatever is fine, nothing fancy required, just want a shooter that doesn't require a lot of tinkering to be reliable. I would even consider 9mm. I have no experience with 1911s and don't know where to start.

    Thanks
I am assuming you want a 45ACP. Checkout https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php. Type in 1911 and see what he has in stock. His prices are good and he picks up shipping if you don't use a CC.

Not all of them. Only frames marked with NM are US made. Otherwise, the frame (and probably the slide) was made in Brazil. They are assembled in the US, however.

If I were buying a basic 1911, and wasn't left handed, I'd buy a Ruger SR1911. 100% American made. Not a GI model, but unless you're looking for a historical replica, you'll find shooting a modern 1911 with a beavertail and bobbed hammer to be more comfortable.

Springfield GI model, or Loaded if you want the extra features for a few more bucks.

Call or email Tanner's ASAP to see if they have any of the Colt basic models for $699 left. I think I saw that post not too long ago.

    NOOOOOOOOO! If you're getting a 1911 it should be a .45 ACP!!!!

Check Bud's Gun Shop, GrabaGun, CheaperThanDirt, CDNN, GalleryofGuns, just about all on line sellers are going to have 1911's.

Rock Island makes a very good 1911 GI model and I think it's under $500. Very solid, very dependable and if there are any problems they are active on the M1911 site (https://forum.m1911.org/) and will take care of you.

Spend a little more and get a good pistol, Colt 70 series Government. Some of those phonies are 80 series guns.

The difference between 70 and 80 series.

Search around the used market also. Don't be afraid to buy used. Just check the gun over, there are plenty of tips covering what to look for.
