Re: From looks alone which one of these 1960s era revolvers do you prefer? (Colt vs S
They look nearly identical in every way other than the barrel lug.
I like the way the Colt looks better in that regard.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

My eye pulled to the Smith immediately, but the full lug on the Colt is nicer.
Overall, the Smith - but would look much better as a full lug gun.

Re: From looks alone which one of these 1960s era revolvers do you prefer? (Colt vs S
I've always been a S&W fan due to overall looks. Never cared for the Colt downward curve of the body just over the trigger. Also Colt's "fussy" cylinder release. Overall, a S&W revolver seems more aggressive looking, in part due to the shape of the trigger guard. I own a S&W 686 and a 617 (both have full lugs). Also a model 41 semi-auto.

Two fine firearms! The Smith & Wesson wins for me but only because of the grip styling, the non-checkered bottom 1/4 inch creates some more interest before the grip ends. If the Colt had that then it would be a toss up for me.

Yes, but I'm wondering about this: why is S&W stock trading around $5-6 per share?
