Great Bowhunting opportunity in Philly Area
https://www.fws.gov/nwrs/threecolumn...O_2jcPK2S6dmg4
The mentored archery deer hunt provides individuals age 12 and over with little to no hunting experience an opportunity to participate in a managed deer hunt under the guidance of trained mentors on the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Along with our partners, the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) and Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA), we will teach participants about the conservation history of hunting, deer biology and habitat, crossbow instruction, hunting safety and ethics, as well as, field game care and meat processing. Crossbows and ground blinds will be provided. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The Refuge will be open for hunting only on October 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 23rd, 24th, 25, and 26th. Hunters selected via lottery will be required to attend an orientation that will include a review of hunter regulations, zone/location assignment, and an archery skill assessment on October 6, 2019.
To register for a permit to participate, you must submit a completed archery deer hunt application by 4:00 PM on Friday, August 30th. The application is available here:
