"This provision, known as the felony murder rule, is unjust" and "downright shameful" when applied to children, writes Chicago Tribune columnist Dahleen Glanton.

The crazy writer is calling them "children ". I have no pity for the Junior Thugs. Hopefully they will be destroyed while in lockup.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that the "children" are all black males, and that's the only reason why black columnist Dahleen Glanton gives a sudden crap about the felony murder rule.

A handful of white boys did this? She'd be writing about reparations today, or why Biden should drop out and endorse Kamala. Because she's a racist by any definition, obsessed with "her" people and applying special rules for the benefit of her people and against all others.

From every aspect, it's fair to hold the survivors accountable for the death:

    - from a practical standpoint, these feral yutes stole a car, used that car to steal another car, brought a knife to an occupied home in case they needed to stab the owner to death, and fled from police in their first stolen car until they ran out of gas. There's NO reason to believe that society would be better off with these soulless monsters running amok.

    - from a legal standpoint, the felony murder rule is old, old, descended from the old common law that predates the codified laws. If you start shit, you're responsible for the mess, basically. I might drop a bowling ball off a tall building, with no idea who if anyone is standing below, but if it kills someone, I'm going down for some flavor of murder. I didn't know for sure that I'd kill Betty Sue Jones, but I had a pretty good idea that something like that could happen. And it has been applied to white folks and black folks with impartiality.

    - from a pure philosophical perspective, all humans have free will, and we are obliged to factor in the consequences of our deeds, and society should encourage us to avoid the bad and embrace the good. There's no downside to society to harshly punishing intentional bad acts, and the harsher the sentence, the more deterrence for the sane and the more likely that we'll lock up and sequester the insane, like these feral yutes.

6 people armed with at least one knife.
Ages 14 (killed), 16, 18, and three 17 year olds.
Tried to attack a homeowner that discovered them stealing his car.
These are not "children" they are mostly military age criminals in a violent gang.
All of them should absolutely be prosecuted for murder.

**Update: Five Teens Charged as Adults**

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined the six teens traveled to Old Mill Creek in a stolen Lexus, to commit a burglary. During the course of the burglary they confronted the 75-year-old homeowner, who went outside to investigate why there were people near his 2011 Audi, parked in the driveway. The homeowner told Sheriff’s Detectives he yelled at the individuals to leave, but at least one of the male subjects advanced toward him with an unknown object in his hand. The homeowner feared for his life and discharged a firearm. At least one of the rounds struck a 14-year-old male, who was on foot, outside of the Lexus. A knife was recovered at the scene in the vicinity of where the 14-year-old was shot.

Sheriff’s Detectives met with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office to review the facts of this case. After reviewing the facts and evidence the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved First Degree Murder charges for the individuals who were committing a burglary. The teens were charged due to them being in commission of a forcible felony, when the 14-year-old victim was shot and subsequently died as a result of being shot during the commission of a burglary.

The following individuals were charged with First Degree Murder:

16-year old-male, of the 7800 block of South Oglesby, Chicago
17-year-old male, of the 5700 block of South Bishop, Chicago
17-year-old male, of the 5700 block of South Bishop, Chicago
17-year-old male, of the 5000 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Chicago
Diamond C. Davis, 18, of the 5700 block of South Bishop, Chicago

All of the individuals appeared in bond court for an initial hearing late this afternoon. A Lake County Judge set bail at $1,000,000.00 for each of the defendants. They are all due back on September 5, 2019, at 1:30PM in courtroom T110.

Sheriff John Idleburg stated at today’s press conference, “I briefly want to touch on the law-enforcement collaboration that led to the fast apprehension of everyone involved in this incident. This case is an example of multicounty law-enforcement collaboration, which assisted in the apprehension of four juveniles and one adult. I wish to thank the Gurnee Police Department, Illinois State Police, Chicago Police Department, and the Lake County Major Crime Task Force for their technical assistance provided at the scene. Anytime there is a loss of life, it is a tragedy for the family and friends of the deceased. Our condolences go out to the family of the young man who lost his life today, despite the circumstances.”

The four juveniles, although charged as adults, will be housed at the Hulse Juvenile Detention Facility in Vernon Township, however will have regular court appearances at the Waukegan Court Complex. Diamond Davis is currently being held in the Lake County Jail.

Sheriff Idleburg reminds the community all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

For additional information about the case, please refer to the earlier news release issued by the Lake County Sheriff's Office, or contact Lake County Sheriff Public Information Officer Sgt. Christopher Covelli. For information about court hearings, please contact Lee Filas from the Lake County State's Attorney’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Shooting (Original Release)

This morning at approximately 1:15AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 17600 block of West Edwards Road, Old Mill Creek, for a report of an attempt vehicle theft. The 911 caller informed Sheriff’s Telecommunicators he shot at the individuals attempting to steal his vehicle.

A short time later, Gurnee Police Officers were in the area of Route 132 and Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, investigating a traffic crash. A 2015 Lexus SUV drove toward the Gurnee Officers at the crash scene. The occupants of the Lexus stopped and told the Gurnee Officers their passenger needed medical assistance and removed the injured male from the vehicle. Gurnee Officers administered first aid to the male, and he was subsequently transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. One of the occupants in the Lexus who exited the vehicle with the injured male was taken into custody at the scene.

Four of the occupants in the Lexus fled from the scene at a high rate of speed. Gurnee Police Officers initially pursued the stolen vehicle and were joined by Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies and Illinois State Police. Speeds in the pursuit reached over 100 miles an hour.

The Lexus eventually stopped, in the area of North Halsted Street and West Randolph Street, Chicago. The four remaining occupants were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit by Illinois State Police and Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The injured male, who was located in Gurnee, had injures consistent with a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and is scheduling an autopsy.

The incident is still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.

I will ask the question no one else wants to. Was it worth taking a life to protect your Audi?

If the thugs were threatening the man, he had a right to defend himself. However he also could have gone inside and called the police. Or tossed them the keys.

Putting aside morals and law, the economic impact to this man of hiring attorneys, having to move due to public outcry and antifa protests, etc will surely exceed the deductible on the Audi.

Nobody else asked that because that's not what happened. He shot some lawless thugs who were approaching him with a knife.

Is it worth saving the costs of lawyers to cut off your own testicles and hide from anyone who shows the least sign of aggression? Do we WANT to live in the UK, where every law-abiding homeowner is unarmed and the criminals kick in the doors with no fear at all?

There's a reason why most states have "stand your ground" laws, why John Wayne was popular, why manliness has not been completely eradicated by the shrill man-hating harpies who dominate our media. We should not have to retreat when we are in the right. And criminals should have some fear of dying because they are criminals. We shouldn't make it safer to be a predator.
