2019 Archery season freezer candidates
Gentlemen,
I ve had a trail camera out for maybe a couple months monitoring the growth of a couple young bucks and taking a look as to what offerings might be given to me this season should the opportunity present itself.
The 2 younguns are brothers with one having a deformed right antler and the other has a deformed left antler.

I got a very grainy shot of what appeared to be a decent non typical buck. This was the first time I have ever seen a nontypical back there.

This piqued my interest enough to put another 2 cameras out there, hoping to see what this buck looked like.
Initially, I didn't see him but did get this shot the day after placing the cams.

Oh my. Now this could be a decent year if they don't crawl in a hole in the next 4 or 5 weeks.
I got nothing for the next few days. Then this came by.

Then his buddy.

Good Lord willing and the crick don't rise, I could possibly do ok.
I'll continue with a few additional shots in the next post.
I have to modify my stand to place it lower so I might get a chair of some kind up there. My knees have not recovered from dragging the 9 point out last year. 2 surgeons. Possible replacements of both.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

I applied for all 3 Pa elk tags. Not sure why. I'm in some discomfort with this bone on bone knee issue but did get a winch for my truck hitch. ha.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Re: 2019 Archery season freezer candidates
Tried posting on my phone. Didn't go through so may be a double post.
Well, the senior rifle doe season is over and no additional meat is heading to the freezer.
I went 2 days and my buddy went on Friday.
It was thick and leafy but great just being out.
On Thursday, I had a real nice 8 point come up to within 30 yards and checked me out for 3 or 4 minutes before walking away.
He let me scope him with a frontal presentation, quartering to , a broad side and quartering away.
Here he is walking away.

I heard a dozen shots Thursday and only 2 on Friday.
On Friday, my buddy saw 2 spikes grazing in front of him for a while too.
We had a decent frost on Thursday but not Friday early.
So, I'll be in my treestand next week for a 2B and will have to wait till the second week of rifle for a 2A doe.
My senior lifetime combo will let me hunt for yotes the first week of rifle or I'll see if there are any leftover trout in East Hickory creek.
It's all good.Last edited by 27hand; October 27th, 2019 at 10:32 AM.

Thanks guys. Yes I guess its been a while. It's all good.
I joined a pistol league at Washington County Machine Guns on Tuesday evenings.
The plumbers union sucked me back in to teach a summer Medical Gas Class. Additional 9mm $$$.
Went to Maine for Vaca. They have Lobster everything there.
Fished a bunch in Tionesta.
Working up a loads for my PA 10 and .300 WM
Aside from that, pretty quiet on the retired (or just tired) front.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Nice day after that nasty storm yesterday.
Decided on the spur of the moment to climb my treestand,
No hunting clothes or boots.
Just jeans, bow, daypack,
Got up there about 5 and about 6 saw this girl.

She became this girl at about 6:05.

The shot was a bit quartering to so the bolt passed through but had some gut hanging out the exit wound.
She ran about 120 yards.
Ill prepared causes issues.
I found her just about dark.
my headlamp died. I gutted her in darkness.
The drags back are entirely uphill.
The 70 YO knees are asking for ibuprofin. I gave them MGD instead.
That takes care of the 2B tag. One left for 2A.
When I go to camp, I will be the shanty bitch but will do some fishing.
The following week, I'll try for my 2A freezer candidate..
Retirement is the cats ass.
Hope I can do this a bit longer.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Nice going 27hand. Meat in the freezer is always good. All you need now is to find her boyfriend. I got home from Wyoming on the 26th from mule deer and pronghorn, both bit the dust. . I missed old farts day and the early bear season, but I’d rather be in Wyoming.

Re: 2019 Archery season freezer candidates
Thanks guys.
Cool beans on the trip out west QBC. Good for you.
I'm just about settled in with a load for my .300 WM and hope to get out there next year.
The does boyfriend is at the taxidermist.
I'm heading out to 2A territory tomorrow to look around for a potential tree stand spot and try to fill that tag while archery is still in.
If not, I still have some 170 Deep Curls (thks) for that 3030 for the second week of rifle.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.
