If you are willing to give Walther firearms a look they have a try before you buy program. Namely you can keep the gun for 30 days and if you don't want it send it back. They sell a walther PPS m2 that is compatible to the shield

Seconds on the PPS. Great trigger. Try that if you can. Not sure of the current price difference between it and the Shield. That said, the Shield is good to go as well.

I have both the Shield and the XDS and enjoy both equally. Probably the best carry gun for the price there is.

The Shield is worth every penny you'll spend. My Shield in 45 is for daily carry at the house because of the ease of light carry, My Glock is for going out and about. The shield will tempt you to make it your everyday primary carry piece, so be prepared .

A little late to the party but as others have said the Shield 2.0 9mm is a fine choice for concealed carry. Was my go to warm weather carry piece but have since purchased and have been carrying my Sig p365 with a 12rd mag +1 primarily and sometimes a Glock 43x. Would not hesitate to begin carrying the Shield regularly again however.

This past June S&W announced they have sold 3 million Shield pistols in total which is huge for a handgun that's only been on the market since 2012.

It's an excellent all around performing pistol that can easily fill more then a few rolls. With great aftermarket support, extremely affordable magazines, and an excellent price point regardless of the generation it's really the best overall pistol in its class.

I carry my 9mm shield with the xtech tactical +2 mag extension. Solves the issue of buying a m&p 2.0

That's a question that only you can answer.

But, for me, the Shield is a wonderful pistol, and I have some in 9mm and .45 ACP.

Wish you luck with your decision.
