Default Looking for online sources for C&R eligible ARs or lower receivers

I'm looking for recommendations on auction sites or dealers known to have large C&R inventories. I've been on GunBroker, but they don't have a dedicated filter for that, so looking there isn't as efficient as I'd like.

If it helps, I'm particularly interested in AR15s or lower receivers. Yes, I know they are a fairly recent addition, and not likely to be found in large quantities, but they do now exist.

Don't think bare/stripped lowers were sold 50yrs ago. Any lower would have come to light as a factory-assembled rifle or carbine. And I believe Colt was the only game in town back then.

I believe you are correct on all counts. I have seen reports that some of those receivers were on the market at some point, but I haven't found any specific info on where they were offered or what they went for. Obviously, as time continues to pass, more items like this will be eligible, and potentially available.

And any 50yr old genuine Colt SP1 receiver that's in good condition will not come cheap.

Damn! I bought my 74' mfg SP1 with the Colt Scope in 1983 when I ended service with the Corps, Paid $365 for it. unfortunately, I will see no gains on it as my oldest daughter claims it as hers!, I built a Colt 653 clone carbine for little sister

I don't think C&R's apply for receivers...........It has to be the whole rifle in its original configuration.

Or I might be wrong. So search it and tell me.

You're not wrong. If it's not substantially in its original configuration, it's not C&R. If you look at Garands or M1 carbines as examples, they're considered C&R pretty much as long as they're complete. But a stripped receiver is not.
