Because that law is on the books, making an incorrect statement to an FFL is grounds for prosecution. And the NRA told the government to enforce all the existing laws.
Sounds to me like an example of "Be careful what you wish for".

Yep. "Enforce the existing laws to the max" and "why don't police focus on the few crazy guys with guns instead of the law-abiding" both have unintended consequences, in thousands of criminal prosecutions of people with bad memories or a limited understanding of the Crimes Code, or in "Red Flag" laws that target the few crazy guys with guns.

WSJ is a reputable news source.

I don’t care about election meddling so much, but this would piss me off... if true.

The report, released Friday by Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee, also says NRA leaders traveled to Moscow in December 2015 partly on the NRA’s dime, even though some went there to pursue their own personal business opportunities.

The NRA needs a beat down. Instead of bribing Republicans, they were lining their own pockets.

    This is why North left.

The Russian women belonged to a non government gun rights group in Russia, she was here to see how the NRA worked and make contacts with the NRA.

Pro gun foreigners are not welcome in the United Socialist States of America. She was arrested.
