Scum of Philly working their way to a town near you
So I spent my youth (pretty much up until I was 19) in Lansdale. Graduated from North Penn. After school I moved to Perkasie with my dad and been there since. Every now and then I'll either take a drive through L-Dale to relive some memories, drive past friend's houses, or need to pass through to get somewhere. Over the years it's gradually gotten worse. First it just got more crowded but that was followed by a guy killing his daughter in Hatfield, a shooting last year, drug problems out the ass, and most recently, this:

I just don't know what to make of it anymore. I don't see the problem going away, either. The whole Lansdale/Hatfield/Quakertown area is a highway to dumps like Norristown in the west, Philly to the south and Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton to the north.

While Philly has its issues, it looks like you have your own home grown issues.
BTW that was the longest and most detailed news report I ever read.

You'd figure a guy with tombstone and pot leaf tattoos on his face would be smarter than that.

I grew up in a relatively close in suburb in Delco. Yes, it is still relatively "nice", but the rats moving in from Philly, and closer, bordering burbs have ruined it to a large degree. You have to move far out now, to get a decent, safe lifestyle with less congestion, but that's getting more difficult also.

There's a long-discredited theory (still embraced by the wacky Dems, along with socialism and such), that if you take feral kids from the inner city and transplant their entire family (mom and the various bastards and perhaps the most recent baby-daddy) out into the suburbs, the feral yutes will become mainstream good kids.
School busing was premised on this. So are various federal and state programs. My town has several drug rehab centers which appear to focus on bringing addicts out of Philly and letting them wander around my neighborhood, which has resulted in no cured addicts but lots of cars broken into at night.
As though taking a quart of filthy water and adding it to a gallon of pure water will purify the filth without damaging the pure water. Nope. Society settles at the lowest common denominator, so you end up with an urban area that still sucks, plus suburbs that now suck, too.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

When Rent-a-furniture stores, check cashing joints & pawn shops move into your neighborhood, it is time to consider moving on.

Gentrification. It has its pros & cons.
Also...there are scum everywhere. From Hollywood (with it's pervs and molesters), to Surburban (white collar) to any Urban city (blue collar).
So scum do their dirt behind closed doors while others do it in broad daylight. It's all the same scum.Last edited by MrTee12; August 4th, 2019 at 06:16 PM.

Re: Scum of Philly working their way to a town near you
I saw this put into action about 30 years ago in MD.
Building developers were given cash incentives to include a percentage of Section 8 housing in every new housing development.
Rather than "lifting up" the "disadvantaged" the end result was sprinkling crime into every new residential development all around the state.
After that started no new suburban neighborhood could be considered crime free no matter where it was built. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?
