    Default Springfield saint ar pistol

I’m thinking about getting one , what’s your thought on them, I have 3 other ar riffles in 556, would you stay 556 or go 300? Pros, cons ?

Personally I say support a company that supports the 2nd amendment and gun owners and that's not Springfield. Beyond that it's grossly overpriced at $850.00 plus for the current market especially for what your getting and who makes it.

Probably not what you want to hear and many may feel differently but that's my .02.

    300BLK

Pro: Hits harder than 5.56 when compared inch for inch of barrel length.

Con: Costs a bit more per bullet.

Something to consider when choosing to go .300blk - Bullet design. Most ammo being sold today used bullets designed for .308win and above velocities. This is my opinion based on lots of my own personal investigation utilizing the research of various sources. A bullet designed to expand at .308win velocities may not expand at .300blk velocities.

*IMHO If you aren't suppressing the gun, then there isn't any purpose to using subsonics. If you are suppressing the gun, unless you are on a covert mission requiring absolute discreetness there still isn't a good home defense purpose to using subsonics. It's just fun to do. Again this is my .02 YMMV

*ETA: I feel the same way as Hodgie. Fock Springfield, you can do much better pricing wise anyway

I love 300 ACC Blackout, the plus is if you want to add a suppressor down the road it really quiet with sub sonic ammo. Currently I am building both a pistol and a rifle in this caliber. I finished the pistol a few days ago and already shot that one, love it. I am still waiting on my upper for the rifle.

Ruger is $150 less and offers more for the money. This one is 556, but I think they make it in 300 too.

Did you build any of your current 3 rifles?
If not, you're missing out on the number one, bestest thing about the AR15 - the ability to build one with the exact parts that YOU want, in the exact configuration YOU want.

As for the caliber, the sky is the limit - so many options.
300 blk is clearly a very popular choice right now and for very good reasons. None of those reasons apply to me, so it's not even remotely on my radar. Maybe it's a good choice for you though.

I agree and I’d start with this. The FN barrel alone runs $200-$250.00.

Also one extra benefit of building an AR pistol from a stripped lower in PA is that it doesn't end up in the record of sale / registry database.
