I was there early in the Spring and no metal detectors. There was only a handful of "security" and they were more concerned with keeping the line moving through the gates.

    Warning! Threadcrap ahead…

Was at the barnstormers game in Lancaster last night. It was the top of the ninth-inning, and the away team was down by one run, with runners on second and third base, with no outs. The batter hits a weak grounder to the shortstop, and the runner on third base, expecting them to make the play at first base takes off for home plate. The shortstop doesn’t make the play to first, but instead throws to home plate, putting the third-base runner in a pickle. The catcher chases him down the line, then tosses to the third baseman, who promptly tags the third base runner out. The second base runner, assuming everyone was distracted with the third base runner, makes for third base. The third baseman, having just tagged out the third base runner, quickly turns and fires the ball to the shortstop who is now covering third-base. He’s able to tag the runner, sliding, 3 feet from the plate. Now, they’ve only got a runner on first, and two outs, and the ‘Stormers struck out the next batter, closing out the game. I usually don’t like baseball because I think it’s boring as heck, but every once in a while, you get some really thrilling play like last night. I’m wondering how much heat the third base coach was in after that play. With zero outs and runners on second and third, IMHO, they should’ve waited for a better hit before trying to force the third base runner in.

    Probably not for long.

10-year-old Boy Injured at Iron Pigs Game in Apparent Shooting

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- A young boy was injured at an Iron Pigs baseball game in Lehigh County Saturday night, apparently shot by a stray bullet.

Police say the 10-year-old boy was on the field at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown for a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game. He was standing in the right field area around 6:30 p.m. when he fell to the ground and started bleeding.

The boy was taken to a hospital where an x-ray showed what appeared to be a bullet lodged in the back of his knee, according to police.

He was transferred to a trauma hospital for treatment. Investigators said his injury was not life-threatening.

Police say there was no evidence of the shot coming from within the park or the surrounding area, and no one reported hearing any gunshots.

Officers say the investigation is ongoing.

Saw this and thought the same thing. Even though it's a complete fluke, and the stray bullet was not from or even close to the stadium, there could be a response in terms of security to appease suburban moms.
