Question re Boyd's plastic trigger guards

I have a Thompson Center Compass in 6.5 Creedmoor. It is very accurate, but the factory plastic stock is no fun on the bench bags.

I have ordered a Boyd's Pro Varmint stock. I have a Boyd's on a Savage .22 rifle, and know I am probably going to need to "work with" it.

With a F.A.T. wrench, I torque the factory assembly at 35 inch-pounds.

The question I ask, of anyone with experience, is how does the plastic trigger guard hold up to the rear bolt torque?

Metal guards are available for other makes, but seems none for the Compass yet.

I'm thinking about making my own guard from strap steel. Won't know if that is practical until I get the stock next Tuesday.

If the plastic is up to the task, then all will be well.

Edited to say, just found video showing it may come with a metal guard. Here's hoping!

Aha! Progress. It's on the move. Hagerstown, MD. Hope the Maryland gendarmes don't grab it for investigation.

WOW!!! The stock came this morning!! And it looks beautiful. Boyds filled the order rapidly, and delivery was ahead of schedule. So pleased!! And yes, the trigger guard is metal.

Some make a bit of a deal over the Boyds stock magwell being too ample and allowing lateral and rolling movement of the mag.

The answer is careful application of a bedding compound if that anal. I simply applied three layers of electricians tape to each sidewall. The mag installs nicely, and is snug as a bug in a rug. I think that will suffice on the range. If I ever use this rifle for deer again, it will go back on factory plastic stock (with a far more appropriate scope).

I've never found electrical tape to stay put for long periods of time when used on "stuff" but perhaps if it's not being rubbed against too hard , it'll stay put.
How about a bi-pod ...... you sticking one of them on it?

Actually, it's just info for someone...anyone...to peruse, no response expected (now that it is established that the trigger guard is metal).

The moon roof on the 2009 Camry had been leaking. It is leaking from the tube that directs water from the left rear corner of the tray to the ground. It was staining the headliner. Never open it, so placed electricians tape over the gaps in the roof. Been there for three months, doing fine. The real test will be winter. I expect the tape to shrink and lift. We shall see. Keep in mind, this is Harbor Freight tape...the best in the world. LOL.

Bipod is an interesting question. For some reason, I shoot (the factory plastic stock) more accurately with a bipod than from bags. But, I want to try and see if this stock reverses that. So, for now, all studs are off of the stock and bags will be first.

Last night I tried to figure out how to get the photo from my android to the PC. I managed it once before, but seem unable this time. Now you might understand why I talk to myself.
