That sounds like some serious tape.
Maybe I have been using it wrong.
Question about the bi-pod had more to do with if you will be using it in the field with one or not.

Gotcha. Probably not. Haven't hunted varmints from a field or woods edge for years. If i laid prone, I would need someone to help me up.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Bang, you weren't talking to yourself. I was following along. I just didn't have any useful thing to add.

I rather have metal trigger guards on long guns.

I would bed that magwell so the tape doesn't start corrosion and it's just shitty.

I was rooting for pictures but its tough on phones and tablets. Photo hosting hasn't been the same since the great betrayal.

When temperatures get nicer I'll be looking for some groups from that. Best wishes Bang.

Cut a rectangle from aluminum soffet measuring 1.5" x 5". Drilled two .105" diameter holes at mid-line, zachary 4" apart. Covered the top of the comb of the stock with painter's tape and conformed the aluminum longitudinally to its shape.

Found the center ply, and, using the aluminum as a jig, drilled the comb straight downward with the same drill, then opened them to .108".

Screwed two fine steel machine screws into the holes in the aluminum and snugged them gently, installed it on the comb, and secured the heads to the aluminum with quick setting JB Weld.

I then constructed a cheek weld by super-gluing various foams and materials until the height was right, and formed an "upholstery" from a motorcycle inner tube.

Each end of the inner tube is open, and I painted the exposed material black which dried over night.

I didn't like the Kydex cheek risers being offered with 1/4-20 carriage bolts installed laterally and large knobs. When removed, there are two relatively small holes in the top of the comb. Much less destructive.

I have two other risers made this way for other rifles. Obviously they are not as robust as the Kydex type, but I am not employing them in sniping conditions. This is strictly for the gentle world of bench shooting.

    Mum mum mum mum..... splash!
