That’s the way I look at it: there has not been a better time for job hunting in the last decade. Every single segment of the economy is short on people; expect wages to increase more than they have in some time, bolstering Trump’s chances going into 2020.

All companies have employees targeted for termination, but they don’t have the term case built yet. So, it’s common practice for the company to terminate those targeted individuals for a zero tolerance policy violation (albeit minor) when they get the chance.

Not saying “that” happened in this case.

Pa. Is an AT WILL state, they don't even need a reason except that by fireing there would be less of a chance he would be able to collect U C thus saving the Co. more $$ .It still sucks though !

My wife is an HR generalist. My understanding is that very few UC denials are actually submitted/fought for. I suspect you'll get your UC with no problems.

Personally I would be contacting an attorney. I would be curious to know how many others have been terminated over similar infractions, especially if it's a first time. Or was this punishment strictly over looking at guns instead of fantasy league football.

I worked my last job in a union shop for 25 1/2 years where the terminal manager always had a targeted employee that he harassed. First it was Bruce, when he left it was Huey and when he left it was me. One thing I can tell you is that in a union shop the employee can screw management back and each of us screwed him hard, ultimately costing the company countless thousands of dollars over the years. It's not really a desirable situation but one has to do what one has to do.

I was thinking the same thing. Everyone in the building is probably on Facebook. Why aren't they being fired? It's not innapropriate content. Seems like a write up was in order not a termination.

A lawyer can’t help here and they will be quick to tell you that, PA is ‘hired at will’, end of story.
