Took three "newbies" shotgun shooting yesterday.

Two of us arrived there a few mins before 9am; as we planned.
But the other two showed up late. 9:40 late.
So we did not sign in until a few mins before 10am.
And then had to wait about 1/2 hr after we signed in.


Both of my Stevens are field guns.

The one I inherited, I used for hunting when I was a kid.
It looks very similar to a model 311.
Has an engraving of a goose or duck flying over a patch of grass.
And has a patent date of April 20, 1915

The one I bought on Friday; I is a model 5100.
Has an engraving of a pointing dog in grass.


And get this. AS I'm writing this. The ex-co-worker is messaging me to go again this coming Saturday.
This time his girlfriend and father want to come.

Honestly grab one of their rentals to see how you do with a skeet/imp cyl (I believe that's how they have them choked). No shame in paying $12 to use a $2000 gun. I bet your score improves! Have fun!

Went again today. Three more newbies !

This time it was myself, the ex-coworker, his dad, his girlfriend, and one of his friends.
The dad, friend, and girlfriend had either never shot a shotgun or had last shot one decades ago.

This time we rented two shotguns. One 12-guage for us guys. And one 20-guage; with low recoil shells; for his girlfriend.

We all had fun !
Although ex-coworker's girlfriend was somewhat losing interest about half way through. But she stuck it out and finished all 17 stations.
I think she was losing interest due to her shoulder starting to hurt. She is on the thin side. So even the 20-guage with low recoil ammo bothered her.
I get the feeling she would do this again; but only 1/2 course of 50 rounds and not the full course of 100 rounds.

I forget everyone's exact scores; EXCEPT mine.
The ex-coworker and his friend were around 60.
I think his dad was in the 40's.
And his girlfriend was in the 30's.
I scored EXACT the same as last Saturday; 49.
BUT this time I shot every station doubles.
So that that mean I improved ? Or are the rental guns just better designed for shooting clays ?

The ex-coworker appear to be REALLY into this.
He's talking about buying a membership.

So between last Saturday and today. I think I got at least one new person fully converted from the dark side.

Just got word from ex-coworker.
His friend is hyped up on shooting. He's going next weekend and bringing his girlfriend.
Ex-coworker's Dad wants to buy his own shotgun and get better.

Could this possibly spread and catch on with more friends-of-friends ??
