A 9mm or even 10mm typically isn't enough for a male pitbull on PCP. What you want is a 40mm. With extra magazines incase he's in a pack (they usually are).

There are a handful of 9mm loads that have a long and distinguished record of stopping with one shot. My favorite is the old Federal 9BPLE: 115 gr. JHP @1,300 ft/s. It was used by the ISP for many years, and nobody ever complained about stopping power. It was also used by quite a few other police dept., with zero complaints. Street proven round.
