Default Hatsan Escort .22 rifle - Seeking input

So, I'm looking at .22 rifles for my daughter. Saw one of these today. Turkish made CZ clone. Looks nice. Reasonably priced.

    Are they any good?

    Retardedly nice prices. $175.

Enough to make me actually consider buying myself one.

If you have a Rural King nearby they have Rock Island youth model bolt actions for $150, which come threaded from the factory. I can vouch for them being decent (and quiet with the right accessory)

    Sounds good.
I know this is beyond the scope of the exercise, but CMP has those fancy competition 22's for about $250 I think.
But I would go with something practical like you're doing.

Looks like the perfect rifle to teach your kids to shoot. How old is your daughter? And thank you for not wanting to get her an autoloader as a first rifle. My kids started with a small single shot Savage 22 (don't think they make the model anymore). They would have to load each round separately but it taught them how to concentrate and shoot accurately. And it was easier for me to eventually get enough confidence to give them a box of ammo and not have to watch them take every shot at the range. They would just sit there and plink away safely. One day some older kid came to the range with an auto AR15 style rifle. At first they were thinking WOW I want one too. But they later commented on how he was missing the paper at 25 yards and they had nice small groups. My girls are in their early 20's today and still want to bring "their" rifle to the range when they go.

My only concern with the Hatsen is parts availability and warranty. Bolt .22's are usually very reliable and I never had an issue with one. But it is nice to know you are covered when it is breaking in.

Thanks. I looked it up. You have to be part of a school or club and jt doesn't ship for 60 days. She'd lose two months of practice. Besides, of the two rifles CMP sells, I would only buy the Savage and she doesn't like synthetic stocks any more than I do. She liked the look of the Hatsan. We'll probably pick it up this weekend. If it shoots half as good as it looks, it'll be awesome!

She's 16. She learned to shoot a little pink Crickett, but hit the age a few years ago where she didn't go to the range with me any more. That's why I'm jumping on this before she loses interest. It will be her gun and I may even see if she wants to hang it on a rifle rack in her room instead of in the safe. I remember when I got mine. It was a milestone.
