Default There may be a reason it's for sale at a gun show

Once in a while there will be an old-timey table with used stuff in a box or bin. There can be great finds at great prices, not-so-great finds, and paperweights.

I bought a Tasco AccuDOT for a great price. Got it home and mounted it on a rifle and took it to the range.

Zeroed it. Sorta. Seemed a bit more inconsistent than I normally shoot. Decided I liked a bigger red dot I recently bought, and switched back to that.

Biggest reason...the Tasco AccuDOT has unacceptable parallax. Playing with it, I discovered something else. After looking through it, my viewing (right) eye felt "drawn", and needing to recover, like when you look through a binoculars that isn't columnated or one side is out of focus.

Curious, I searched "Tasco AccuDOT parallax", and sure enough, found reports of poor parallax situation, and complaints and discussions re effects on the eye. Seems the curve of the optic lens induces a very slight magnification and affects the eye in a slight head-achey manner.

So, my gun show find is working as produced. It just wasn't very good from the git-go. Might be fine for paintball or something.

I won't sell it to get rid of it. I don't like sticking someone else with something that isn't right. It'll go in the box of stuff. When I'm gone, the kids can fight over it.

    There's poetry there. LOL.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Its always a good idea to check the parallax for any optic. Rest it on a bag and hold it steady. Then move your head side to side. If the image moves with your head the parallax is off.

That doesn't necessarily mean it is broken. Try it at different distances. It could be off at 25 yards but good at 100.

The parallax is unacceptable at any range, and the curvature of the front lens makes the eye feel drawn.
