Default Shotgun shooting on private property.

Anyone know the regs for discharging firearms in Polk Twp? They aren't available online. Got a new shotgun and I want to break it in but I want to do it legally. FWIW we are zoned rural residential (barely).

I only plan on using birdshot/target practice shells.

    Thanks.

I’m in Kunkletown/Polk township I’m Monroe county. I and several of my neighbors shoot all the time. I believe You have to have 100 yards between yourself and your neighbors homes and a natural or well made back stop.

Thanks hodgie, nice to hear from you again. As you can tell, we did end up moving to the area. I thought kunkletown was in Eldred twp? Maybe its split like ours. (Chestnuthill up the road).

And I hear everyone too, theres someone who must have a cannon close by but not sure where. Not that it bothers me in the least.

I can find a spot on the property that's 100yds from other residences. I'd be shooting into woods, but I don't know if that's considered a good enough backstop... Ill end up calling the twp office tomorrow unless someone on the forums knows the regs to the letter.

    Thanks

Well for anyone interested, i just got off the phone with someone who handles zoning issues.

he said the township doesn't have any, just apply state law.

correct me if i'm wrong, but state law basically just says to be safe and the only thing i need to worry about is civil liabilities if i injure someone or destroy property?

also, most state law just deals with hunting I thought.

a little confusing, i just don't want any trouble.

When I called my twp they referred me to state game laws.

    are you in polk twp?

the guy on the phone didn't say anything about state game law, he just said, verbatim, 'no we don't have any ordinances, just follow state law.'
