Cool Glock 42 or Bersa Thunder

Hey, I'm going to get a .380 for the range only, not carry. Since it's only to plink, what is your opinion? A brand new Glock 42 for around $400 or a Used Bersa Thunder for half that, $200. Tell me why you feel the way you do about your answer. Thanks!

I don't shoot 380 anymore but I used to have a Bersa Thunder Plus and that'd be my choice. Very compact yet holds 15 rds. Just be careful you don't grip too high to avoid hammer bite.

Glock 42, my second favorite Glock after the 19. It shoots great, I've had 4 of them - two of them now belong to a friend and his brother. All have been 100% reliable. Softest shooting .380 that I have shot in 35 years or so.

The 42 and my S&W snubby model 38 bodyguard (the original bodyguard) are my "I'm not carrying a gun" gun. I have always had a fondness for snubby's (always carried one as a BUG while on duty) but the 42 is really getting more time.

Big, big fan of the 42.

    Good luck with your choice.

Why are you getting a .380 for plinking when 9mm is less?

You could probably split the difference in price and check out the Smith and Wesson EZ.

For me personally, the recoil is too harsh on a 9mm. I've shot the 42 before and it's not nearly as bad as the Glock 17 and Sig P365 I had. I haven't shot the Bersa yet but would before committing to buy.

Since I'm fairly new to the handgun game, I didn't know that the Thunder was a Straight Blowback and actually had to Google what that meant. So generally speaking, a blowback 380 gun will be a jerky as a 9mm?
