Roll the dice and pay the price.

    Losing equals jail.

I told him he was wrong but he argued his certifications made him more well trained than many cops.
I don't think he believed me that he'd prolly go to jail in MD and in DE too.
He is probably right about being better trained than most cops. Tell him to get one more credential. An MPO card. Many department are looking for cops. He eventually would be able to carry all over the country.

I got pulled over leaving Sarco carrying a rifle I bought when they were in NJ quite a few times by their Gestapo. There always seemed to be a cop car parked or going by. Seems they even have their own interpretation of what an FFL allows you to do.
    I don't speak English , I talk American!

I go into Maryland quite often, I do not carry there, if I do carry through MD I do it legally under FOPA.
Several years ago I got stopped in MD and was carrying illegally. Spent the night in jail, cost me several thousand dollars, cost me a career, forfeiture of gun, probation, community service, etc. And at the time I was a LEO in another state. (This took place before LEOSA)
Been there and done that, I won't play any more.

Holy shit, sorry to hear that. It’s one thing to talk about it and another to go through it.

Most people think "it won't happen to me and if it does it won't be bad because someone will notice I'm a good guy and give me a break". I can tell you, if the arresting officer doesn't give you the break, you will be going through the system. I was a cop, I thought I was good to go with the "thin blue line" and all. Not true.
I did get lucky and got a judge who pretty much thought it was all a waste of time, so I was never actually convicted. I went to court, plead guilty and my conviction was postponed for a year until after probation and community service, at which point my case was just dropped, so I never got a judgement. At that point I started proceedings to have the arrest expunged. $$$$$$ to an attorney.

As a LEO arent you protected under federal law from carrying in any state?

Ray mentioned "This took place before LEOSA" which is the law that allowed LEOs to carry across the US.

I think it was 1994. LEOSA wasn't a thing until maybe 2002 or so. Up until LEOSA it was just an unwritten understanding. I don't know what the arresting officers problem was, he actually got caught in a lie on his report. He reported that I had "reached for the gun", which was a complete lie and in court he admitted that he was "mistaken". The judge then said "So why is this even in front of me then".

Know the laws of the state you're traveling to/through. Follow them or avoid that state all together.

Luckily, I live in SW PA, so I don't have to worry too much about nearby states, other than MD, which can easily be avoided.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.... but also better to avoid communist states than to be judged by 12.
