Carrying in the workplace
Hi, I'm a to concealed carry. I'm waiting for my permit to come in the mail. I also have yet to buy a firearm. But my question is this, I work in an office and want to carry at all times. I'm afraid I will cause panic if I carry and someone sees my gun. I'm also worried I could get fired for having a weapon on my person. Should I carry at work?

Re: Carrying in the workplace
Covertly research whether there is a policy against having firearms or not. If not - you're good, just conceal it well.
If there is, yes you'll most likely be fired if discovered to be carrying. Then it's up to you to decide the risk/reward trade-off of whether you want to.
Good luck, and seek some good training since it's your first purchase.

Re: Carrying in the workplace
It's a philosophical question. My company has a generic, anti-weapon policy in the employee handbook. In my philosophy, I will not be disarmed by some carbon copy statement in a handbook that has no functional value, so I absolutely carry at work and everywhere else where the consequence of getting caught falls short of imprisonment.

Re: Carrying in the workplace
My company does not like to write anything down policy wise, we could hold them responsible. But no handbook no rule saying I can't and at this point most assume I do.

Re: Carrying in the workplace
Every company I have worked for (mostly very large corps) have had a strict anti gun policy not only in the building, but the entire premises. Meaning you can't even have a gun locked in a lock box in your car.

Re: Carrying in the workplace
Everywhere I've worked has also had a no weapons policy, but almost always just within the buildings or company vehicles. My current employer has a somewhat vague gun policy that I'm not going to test. I'll just leave my gun locked up in my vehicle as I've done in the past.

Re: Carrying in the workplace
IMO, you need to first actually select a firearm and decide how you're going to carry it before including your workplace. For someone as green as you appear to be, there is a very high chance that you'll unintentionally expose your gun and be quickly unemployed.
I have no problem with someone ignoring workplace rules, as in the end, it's easier to get a new job than to get a new life, but be smart about it.
At some point in my life, I may or may not have actually carried a blue training drone to practice specific concealed options before going "live" with a real firearm. If caught, I would have looked a little silly, but would not have actually been caught with a gun in an environment where I didn't want to be caught.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today!
