    I will be heading out with my CVA optima. IT's placed much venison in the freezer. Hopefully some bear this year.

    Thanks all. I’m definitely going modern for now and learn what works for me. If I enjoy it, maybe go older school down the road.

    I use a Traditions Buckstalker. Bought it clearance right from their website. Much cheaper that way. I got it for around $125 IIRC.

    I shoot saboted rounds out of it. It's a .50 caliber, but the saboted round is a .30 caliber.

    It is a really accurate rifle and shoots multiple loads and rounds equally well. It is a really sweet rifle!
