Default Wolf Renews SoE for Opioid Crisis

    https://www.explorejeffersonpa.com/w...xz8AJUYioYyFZk

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Governor Tom Wolf on Friday signed the sixth renewal of his opioid disaster declaration.

The declaration was put in place in January 2018 as a mechanism for state agencies, third-party organizations and stakeholders to work collaboratively, loosen regulations that slow down access to treatment, and increase efforts on prevention, treatment, and recovery for thousands of Pennsylvanians suffering from the opioid crisis.

Next he'll extend it due to the LGBT crisis.

This article is way too long and my millennial syndrome is kicking in. To be fair, it's a whole lot of nothing. I did read about the state insurance lady. I don't know too many heroin users that have health insurance. That seems a like a really low priority for them, but I'm no expert. Just deregulate whatever regulations are stopping people from getting treatment. I don't think anyone in the house would vote nay. I skimmed the article and I didn't see any mentions of specific regulations. Just generic ones like housing and health insurance issues.

The article is vague on the healthcare reasons for the state of emergency. I find it hard to believe that this issue can't get bipartisan support for an actual legislative change, unless there is more here than meets the eye, which I would love to read about.

The reason for the SoE is that they can bypass the normal acquisition process for the Narcan. Meaning they're buying probably at an inflated price and then giving it away for free.

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
