1884/1888 Springfield Trapdoor/ Rod Bayonet

Top of trap door is stamped, US 1884. This one has the ramrod bayonet and from my research this would be a Model 1888. Serial number is 523xxx making this a 1891 production rifle. Sharp clear cartouche is stamped 1891 and SWP.

Metal has turned a brown patina with some surface rust showing on the barrel, sight, and butt plate. The bore is bright with strong land/grooves.

The stock is stamped in White paint with what I assume was a unit designation. The wood shows not cracks or splits but there is a deeper pressure dent in the forearm wood on the left side in front of the rear band. Bands are stamped with the letter U. The "flat latch" bayonet keeper works fine and the rod itself retains 95%+ blue. You of course have the 3 day non firing inspection period.
