Re: How many times do you rack the slide before being confident it’s not loaded?
Meh. It's hard to go up against a Philly jury and a Philly judge (at least, I think it was all in Philly, the plaintiff was a Philly resident, but this was many years ago and I wasn't involved).
Even good lawyers lose some cases. On the one side, you have an injured or dead child, plus a woman willing to perjure herself about the gun shop inexplicably failing to give her the free instruction manual when they gave her the brand-new gun in it's brand-new box. Plus the jury figures that a business is insured, so it's just money from the evil insurance companies who everyone hates.
On the other side, you have a clerk testifying about one sale out of thousands.
I keep telling you guys, gun owners and especially ARMS TRAFFICKERS are not going into court with a lot of good will from the judge or jury.
The practice of law isn't like engineering or plumbing or even golf, where good solid work will get the results you want. It's more like politics. A lawyer can do everything right, have all the citations, get the paperwork correct, and still get a jury filled with irrational prejudices. If your lawyer sucks, your chances of winning go down, but your chances are never 100% in any case.
I've had multiple cases where the DA had my client, had my client's gun, had witness statements against my client, had what looked to be a solid case against my guy for "being a scary gun owner", but the DA lost because we had a judge who was unburdened by the usual gun phobia and I did my job. It happens. It could go the other way, gun rights are not up there with LGBTQ or minority rights in the current intersectionality dynamic.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

I drop magazine, rack slide to empty chamber, visually check chamber is empty, all done
I think the bottom line in going to court it's about political motivation of the Judge rather than letter of the law. Our legal system no longer supports right and wrong it's about who the Judge is and what political motivation he/she/they have. Maybe it's always been that way but with the rise of extreme leftist/socialist/communist public education it seems more pronounced.Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

I've seen professional shooters often do it in threes. For me, once and a visual inspection by myself, and another party if they are close by.
For police? Once more than the maximum number of rounds they ever carry. Just to be safe.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

Drop mag and lock slide to the rear, inspect, then return to battery.
