PSC's Quirks of the Kalashnikov (6 hours, INTERMEDIATE skill level) is a technical course of fire designed to teach and reinforce the differences between the AR-15 and Kalashnikov pattern weapons.

Material covered includes ammunition management, malfunction clearance, controls manipulations, weapon-specific history and points of interest.

Students are expected to have previous formal training on the AR-15 pattern carbine, and to arrive with a 100m zero.


You MUST HAVE the following to participate:

  • eye protection
  • hearing protection (electronic preferred)
  • sturdy, stiff belt (min. 1.5" width)
  • sling (adjusting two point preferred)
  • Kalashnikov pattern carbine of at least 5.45mm caliber
  • three spare magazines (min.)
  • 300 rounds of factory FMJ ammunition (min.)
  • weapon lubricant
  • tourniquet (C-A-T® or SOF®TT-W)



PSC's Quirks of the Kalashnikov challenges across the shooting skills spectrum - students should be of sound body and mind.

You need to bring a snack.


After class, Washington County Machine Guns is providing a full auto 7.62x39mm AKM assault rifle for students to shoot! $30 per magazine using your ammo!


All event ticket purchases are FINAL and NON-REFUNDABLE, regardless of circumstances. Credit will be carried forward for ONE YEAR if you are unable to attend an event. If PSC is forced to cancel, you will receive a full refund. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
