Probably doesn't have any right or power to influence and maybe it didn't influence anything. It's the fact that it was even asked is what is concerning to me, but he did say he doesn't like them and was going to see what can be done about them and you have to start somewhere.

The federal government prosecuted the case. They are one side in the dispute and they can ask the court to reject the appeal. As much as Trump is "drain the swamp" there is no chance in hell the federal government will willingly cede power to the states (unless it's to smoke dope). That's one thing you can almost guarantee in every case, the federal government protecting its position as the ultimate authority. When they gave themselves authority over a small wheat crop, the die was cast. Wickard v. Filburn for those scratching their head.
